Acupuncture is a form of health care that has existed for over 2000 years.
It is based on the premise that the body is an intricate network of energy that travels along pathways, known as meridians. Symptoms of disease and pain result due to blockage of energy along these pathways.
Acupuncture points located on these meridians are stimulated to remove blocked energy restoring the body’s balance and well-being. Acupuncture uses small sterile needles that are inserted approximately 1/8 of an inch below the surface of the skin. Most people feel a small pinching sensation or no sensation at all when the needles are inserted.
The use of acupuncture is recognized and accepted by
the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health.
